Abstract

The May’68 protests in Paris were a turning point for modern European culture, serving as a breeding ground in the formulation of a new critique of architecture’s role within society. In this context, a radical transformation of the teaching methods of architecture and the values of the profession, which had been established in the context of modern Europe since the postwar period, was fostered, especially by young architects and students. This article studies one of the most significant episodes of this transformation that, in short, implied a repoliticization of architectural practice, and a recovery of the social values that had inspired the first avant-garde movements.
