Literary journeys at the University of Passo Fundo (upf, brazil): a proposal for socioenvironmental education

Abstract

In order to raise awareness among the 48 thousand participants in the 15th National Literature Day of Passo Fundo, integrated social and environmental education actions were developed by the CCTAM and SSA sectors at the University of Passo Fundo, in partnership with cooperatives of collectors of the Transformation project. The work focused on solid waste produced during the event, aiming at reducing generation, as well as with socio-environmental responsibility in segregation and final destination. The work methodology included the application of an interview about the perception of containers for segregation, knowledge about the final destination of this material, and guidance / information about the collection system and destination of the university's waste. The results obtained showed that the majority perceived the differentiated collectors, identifying many cases of inadequate segregation, as well as unsatisfactory the amount of recyclable waste collected. The most critical points were the collectors located in the food court and nearby. Based on reflections on the production and segregation of waste, the project enabled the generation of work and income for the families of collectors, as well as promoting dialogue between the different sectors of the University, in order to qualify the convergent work of socioenvironmental education. in the institution to overcome perceived difficulties.
