Environmental Education, School and Society: a teacher training course

In 2014, the FORMAR-Sciences Research Group of the Faculty of Education at Unicamp, Brazil, held a university extension course aimed at Basic Education teachers, with the intention of articulating their knowledge with the knowledge produced by research and academic discussions, in the search for a joint reflection on their educational practices and conceptions of Environmental Education (EA). The course lasted 50 hours and the present work concentrates its analysis on the concepts of AE presented by the participating teachers before and after the course, in order to show if there was any change in this formative aspect. Thus, this work focuses its analysis on these manifestations, which were recorded in writing through activities provided to teachers. In the initial activities of the course, 71% of these were classified as of a conservative nature and at the end, it was evidenced that 68% of the teachers intended to change their educational practices to the critical perspective, which demonstrates a significant change regarding the concepts of AE and its practice.
