Education and culture of good living: learning to do environmental education

Abstract

Through the commitment and involvement of education professionals and having the school conceived as a complex web of relationships, we will be able to build democratic processes, manifested, also, through projects that involve environmental sustainability issues, and that make life happier for those who live in it. In this sense, socio-environmental education workshops were carried out by the CCTAM / UPF team, integrating an advisory project of the FAED / UPF Youth Observatory, for educators from the state education network in the northern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The work methodology was based on the work of Jacques Delors, and the socioenvironmental workshops were structured on the “Learning to Do” axis. In this sense, the participants organized in groups, with theoretical and practical subsidies, developed proposals for socioenvironmental intervention for socialization in plenary. From the presentations, it was possible to review concepts about behaviors that involve our relationships and these with the environment in which we operate, as well as rescuing lived pedagogical practices and experiences, contributing to think new ways of working, with a converging character, sharing ideas and experiences in a participatory dimension, demonstrating alternative paths to a culture of peace and good living.
