Experiences with nature: an environmental education action carried out at school

The article aims to describe the pedagogical intervention of experiences with nature carried out with about 160 students of elementary and high school in a public school in the city of Rosana, São Paulo, Brazil. This intervention includes part of the Núcleo de Ensino Program at UNESP, campus of Rosana, which in 2013, developed the proposal for experiences with nature, using the sequential learning methodology developed by Joseph Cornell. These experiences are considered as one of the ways to work with environmental education at school, in order to facilitate interaction and experience in direct contact with nature, aiming to generate a deep sense of belonging. The research and action used the methodology of sequential learning, as well as an observation script for the collection and analysis of data. The results showed the qualities and advantages of using this methodology, which can contribute to raising awareness and increasing the environmental awareness of students from working with behavioral, attitudinal, evaluative and affective aspects. This proposal becomes a significant pedagogical strategy, and may even contribute to the teaching-learning relationship, as well as to the social formation of the participating individuals.
