The objective of this article is the description of a teaching methodology that integrates and adapts the functions performed by automation engineers in the industrial world in simulations used as laboratory practices of several industrial degrees and master's degrees from de School of Industrial Engineering at the University of Valladolid. To this end, a correspondence and possible suitability between the practices and the different subjects is presented.
The practices aim to provide students with the necessary skills to program and simulate industrial processes, using programmable logic controllers (PLC), human-machine interfaces (HMI), PID controllers and digital twins.
Several of SIEMENS software’s have been used: TIA Portal for sequential programming, WinCC as a digital twin of the HMI and PLCSIM and PLCSIM Advanced as PLC simulators. Factory IO and SIMIT were used to simulate the digital twins of the stations to be programmed. The set of programs allows us to reproduce a complete industrial environment virtually, as well as the programming of tis components.
