Hybrid Controller based on measurable disturbances for an Industrial Raceway Photobioreactor

Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of a hybrid PI+CI controller for pH regulation in an industrial raceway photobioreactor. The challenges related to actuator saturation and external disturbances such as solar radiation are addressed, proposing strategies to prevent integrator windup and improve system robustness. Simulation results show that the hybrid controller outperforms a classic PI with anti-windup, especially under high-disturbance conditions and for higher pH setpoints.
