Weaving good practices in Environmental Education at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte / Brazil

The relationship between man and nature that is established in society is, to a large extent, based on the values transmitted through educational institutions. The Tecendo Boas Práticas project, developed at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, consists of a proposal for integrated inter / multidisciplinary environmental education, aiming at structuring new forms of relationship between men and each other and with nature. With characteristics of mobilization and formation of habits, it aims to offer society a space for reflection and debate, in the search for the transformation of attitudes and practices related to the negative impacts caused to the environment, which stimulates the adoption of more responsible consumption patterns. and include the topic of sustainability on the local agenda for discussion. It is based on the principles and foundations of EA described in the Environmental Education Treaty for Sustainable Societies. The theoretical support that underlies the methodology starts from the understanding that the primordial aspect of social relations is the promotion of man. In 8 years of activity, more than 500 activities were carried out and around 50 thousand people were involved. The Sustainability Research and Extension Group and the Rio Grande do Norte Environmental Education Network are partners.
