Abstract

Hermenegildo Calvelo Rabuñal is known mainly as a journalist, but he also taught at the public schools in the province of Pontevedra from 1890 to 1903. At his first post in Cuntis a procedure was brought against him on charges of moral and professional related offences, although the case was dismissed. Penalized for slander, he was forced to abandon the area. Through an exchange, he took up a post at the school in Mourent.
At this second post he was charged with not fulfilling his professional teaching duties, which resulted in his permanent removal from teaching.
