A critical view of the Maison des Petits: the pedagogical travels of Irene Lisboa

Abstract

This article presents a contextualised study of the account by Irene Lisboa, a Portuguese educator and writer, of her two-year research stay at the Jean- Jacques Rousseau Institute in Geneva and subsequent experiences at educational institutions in Brussels and Paris. The article focuses in particular on Lisboa’s impressions of the Maison des Petits school in Geneva
