Abstract

Le Bureau International d’Éducation, matrice de l’internationalisme éducatif (premier 20^e siècle) examines the history of the International Bureau of Education (IBE) from its creation in 1925 to the establishment of a joint commission with the then recently founded UNESCO in 1952. The transformation of the IBE into the first intergovernmental organisation dedicated to the field of education and a matrix of educational internationalism began in 1929 with the appointment of Jean Piaget as director.
