El capital social y las estrategias metodológicas para su operacionalización

Resumen
La noción de capital social tiene una larga tradición en los estudios sociológicos y políticos. En los últimos años se ha producido cierta revitalización del debate acerca de sus alcances y los mecanismos más adecuados para su operacionalización. Tras los clásicos trabajos de Bourdieu (1980), Coleman (1990) y Granovetter (1995), más recientemente encontramos en la producción sociológica internacional, una interesante acumulación teórica y empírica, en especial a partir de los desarrollos de Lin (2001) y Burt (2005). En este trabajo presentamos un recorrido por la discusión conceptual acerca de los alcances de este constructo, luego exploramos algunos de los desarrollos metodológicos para su medición, y finalmente presentamos un ejemplo con datos para el caso uruguayo.
