Liability for damages caused by artificial intelligence integrated in core platform services

Online platforms have completely changed the digital economy. Beyond their economic function, they are also an element of transformation. In this process, the development of search engines and virtual assistants with AI, specifically, has revolutionized the way people access knowledge and information. In these days, consciously or unconsciously, most EU citizens use AI almost daily, and yet the absence of adequate regulation involve risks that can lead to abuse and be used as a vehicle to spread illicit content, sell illegal goods or services, or spread false information. In this paper we will try to propose how to subject AI to liability for damages under the perspective of the new EU regulations applicable to Digital Services and Markets.
