Resumo

As cores desempenham um papel complexo na educação e no ensino, pois direcionam a atenção, regulam a carga cognitiva e provocam respostas emocionais. Este estudo examinou como as cores afetam a perceção da área geométrica por parte de alunos do ensino secundário. Os participantes foram convidados a comparar os tamanhos dos retângulos, observando pares de pares de figuras com retângulos de diferentes cores e fundos. Esses pares foram criados usando combinações de cores quentes, frias e neutras. Foram recolhidos dados de rastreamento ocular, incluindo a contagem de fixações e a duração do olhar, que foram analisados de acordo com os níveis de pensamento geométrico de Van Hiele dos alunos e o seu ano letivo. Os resultados mostraram que os estímulos coloridos eram processados mais lentamente do que os desenhos a preto e branco. Isto sugere que a cor complica o processo cognitivo em vez de o simplificar. Também se observou que um baixo contraste entre a figura e o fundo pode aumentar a carga cognitiva e que as formas de cores quentes tendem a reduzir o sucesso devido a ilusões percetivas. Por outro lado, fundos com cores frias têm o potencial de melhorar o desempenho. Portanto, concluiu-se que o uso da cor é uma ferramenta poderosa que deve ser gerenciada cuidadosamente de acordo com o contexto. Os resultados deste estudo podem servir de base para atividades educacionais relacionadas à atenção, ao design de material didático e à psicologia da aprendizagem.
