Relação entre afinidade com a diversidade e tipos de intervenção em estudantes universitários ciberespectadores

O ciberbullying é um problema de saúde pública com efeitos nocivos na saúde mental e física das vítimas. A literatura mostra que os espectadores desempenham um papel importante no ciberbullying, pois podem incentivar ou dissuadir tal comportamento. O objetivo do estudo foi analisar a relação entre a afinidade com a diversidade e os tipos de intervenção dos espectadores do ciberbullying. Participaram 398 estudantes universitários (58% do sexo feminino) com idades entre 18 e 30 anos (Média = 20,36, DP = 2,31) do noroeste do México. Foram utilizadas escalas de autoavaliação para medir a afinidade com a diversidade e o comportamento encorajador e pró-social dos espectadores no ciberbullying. Os resultados sugerem que a afinidade com a diversidade está associada positivamente ao comportamento defensivo das vítimas e negativamente ao comportamento encorajador da agressão dos espectadores de cyberbullying. Além disso, verificou-se uma maior afinidade pela diversidade e uma maior frequência de comportamentos defensivos nas estudantes do sexo feminino, em comparação com os estudantes do sexo masculino. Nos homens, os comportamentos encorajadores da agressão foram significativamente maiores. Concluiu-se que é necessário conceber programas que promovam a apreciação das diferenças sociais, culturais e económicas no contexto universitário para comportamentos pró-sociais nos espectadores de cyberbullying.
