In this new issue of Sarmiento we welcome the vital reports of outstanding researchers and teachers with the intention to highlight the personal and professional career of some of the protagonists who encouraged, in first person in a balanced and measured way, a new era in the field of educational history in Portugal and Spain. We thus give continuity to the work that Julia Varela published in the previous issue of Sarmiento, which had been carried out from the field of sociology of education.
