Responsible consumption initiatives: spaces for community innovation and social learning

Abstract
This paper presents the study of the main characteristics, emergence and evolution process, forms of governance and activities developed by the “Galician network of conscious and responsible consumption" which brings together twenty (non-profit) associations, cooperatives and groups responsible consumption distributed in major cities and towns in Galicia. We will analyze the potential of these responsible consumption initiatives as social innovation spaces where social learning and citizen empowerment processes emerge as a result of horizontal and equal participation in meaningful learning contexts. Learningship relates to the acquisition of conceptual knowledge and problem-solving skills and adaptation to climate change (resilience).
