• Keep calm and face shame – contributes to a socio-emotional skills program

  This study aims to assess the suitability and relevance of an intervention in adolescents at the level of other shame. This intervention is part of a socio-emotional skills program entitled "Alinha com a Vida" for the promotion of Emotional Intelligence. The study sample is composed of 229 students, attending the 8th grade. The research is qualitative, with the collection and analysis of data passed from the content analysis. The results suggest that adolescents acquire skills in the identification, differentiation and knowledge of shame and has shown interest and a positive performance in activities.

  O constructo de inteligência emocional tem despertado interesse por parte da comunidade científica, no sentido de melhor se compreender o seu contributo no desenvolvimento saudável do indivíduo. Nesta investigação partimos do pressuposto que o desenvolvimento de competências emocionais e sociais com vista ao desenvolvimento de um indivíduo emocionalmente inteligente representa um importante alicerce no processo de crescimento. Sabendo que a aprendizagem destas competências se mostra fundamental ao desenvolvimento saudável e considerando esta aprendizagem como essencial à educação, acredita-se que uma intervenção de caráter preventivo na ótica do desenvolvimento emocional se poderá traduzir no bem-estar pessoal e social da criança. Admite-se, deste modo, que quanto maior o apoio e as experiências emocionais e sociais proporcionadas à criança, maior será a sua capacidade para gerir problemas, facilitando o seu desempenho escolar, principalmente em situações geradoras de stress, visto que os momentos de aprendizagem, o envolvimento e a motivação no contexto escolar são fortemente influenciados pelo estado emocional. Ademais, será mais maleável a adaptação da criança aos contextos escolar, familiar e social e às mudanças que ocorrem durante o processo de desenvolvimento, promovendo uma perspetiva de futuro positiva e de sucesso. Esta investigação insere-se num projeto de investigação amplo intitulado “Vamos sentir com o Necas” que visa a promoção de competências emocionais e sociais em crianças do 1ºCiclo do Ensino Básico. Teve-se como objetivo elaborar estratégias e materiais que possam ser utilizados pela comunidade escolar, testando a adequabilidade de duas sessões do Programa, atribuindo-se um lugar de destaque à exploração das emoções básicas “alegria” e “tristeza. Este estudo partiu de uma amostra constituída por 139 crianças provenientes de oito Escolas Básicas da Ilha de São Miguel - Açores (Portugal) e os respetivos dados foram recolhidos através de um Diário de Bordo construído para o efeito e de um Questionário de Inteligência Emocional para crianças. Nesta investigação optou-se por dar especial atenção aos registos efetuados ao longo da intervenção nas duas sessões em análise e às citações presentes nas unidades de registo dos diários de bordo. Os resultados obtidos pela análise de conteúdo realizada sugerem que os objetivos para as duas sessões se cumpriram de modo satisfatório. Pressupondo-se que a exposição das crianças às duas sessões do programa de competências emocionais e sociais traz benefícios à sua aprendizagem emocional, quer ao nível do reconhecimento das emoções básicas “alegria” e “tristeza”, quer ao nível das estratégias de regulação destas emoções. Face aos resultados encontrados nesta investigação e atendendo à influência que a inteligência emocional exerce no ajustamento psicológico do indivíduo (essencial na aprendizagem) parecem justificar-se as intervenções educativas de caráter promocional e preventivo que fomentam o desenvolvimento de competências emocionais e sociais, enquanto elemento fundamental no desenvolvimento infantil.

• Neuropsychological intervention program REHACOG: the architecture and development of the Portuguese version

  Intends to present the Portuguese version of the REHACOP. Is a neuropsychological intervention program, Spanish (Ojeda, Peña, Bengoetxea., & García, University of Deusto, Basque Country). The REHACOP (2012, official public presentation), originally, it is assumed as a neuropsychological rehabilitation program of the psychoses and schizophrenia. This project is the result of a long work of several years, several specialists in neuropsychology, with over 18 years experience in the area, and several times awarded. However, in this time, the authors of the original version have used with other populations. The same will be tried in Portugal.

• Emotional intelligence in the students of Ourense Secondary Education

  Through this research, made to ourensanos children who are studying Secondary Education, we pretend to know the emotional intelligence level. The questionnaire which we use, TMMS-24, has the target of evaluating the emotional intrapersonal intelligence evaluating these different aspects: attention emotional, clearly emotional and repairing emotional.  The research consists of 1270 students.  It can be concluded that students show more emotional intelligence in relation with the dimension adjustment of emotions, showing more loss-making the others dimensions, emotional perception and feeling comprehension.

• Variables motivacionales implicadas en la actividad física en el alumnado de secundaria

  En los últimos años se ha producido una transformación en la sociedad asumiendo las implicaciones que tiene la práctica de actividad física en el desarrollo físico, social, emocional y cognitivo de los adolescentes. En esta etapa se aprenden e inician una gran variedad de comportamientos críticos para la salud y el bienestar que condicionan de forma notable su vida adulta. La actividad física mejora la calidad de vida y la socialización en los adolescentes; mientras que, un estilo de vida sedentario tiene potenciales consecuencias negativas a largo plazo. Por tanto, el objetivo que se plantea  esta investigación es conocer las variables motivacionales implicadas en la actividad física en función del sexo y rendimiento académico de alumnos que cursan secundaria. Se llevó a cabo un estudio descriptivo transversal en una muestra de 326 adolescentes entre 12 y 16 años, con una edad media de 13.86 y una desviación típica de 1.25. Se aplicó el Autoinforme de Motivos para la Práctica de Ejercicio Físico (AMPEF)de Markland e Ingledew (1997), en versión española de Capdevila, Niñarola y Pintanel (2004). Se trata de un cuestionario formado por 48 ítems agrupados en 11 dimensiones, en una escala tipo Likert  que va de 0 (nada verdadero para mí) a 10 (totalmente verdadero para mí) y se centra en evaluar los diferentes motivos que influyen en la decisión de una persona para iniciar un estilo de vida más activo. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto diferencias significativas, atendiendo al sexo, en las dimensiones de Peso e Imagen Corporal, Diversión y Bienestar, Prevención de Salud Positiva, Competición, Afiliación, Fuerza y resistencia muscular, Reconocimiento social y Desafío; mientras que, en el rendimiento académico, se exhiben en  Diversión y Bienestar, Prevención y Salud Positiva, Afiliación, Fuerza y Resistencia Muscular y Desafío. En conclusión: el conocimiento de los motivos de la actividad física podría permitir desarrollar programas de intervención eficaces y duraderos en la adopción de estilos de vida saludables en los adolescentes actuales.

• Emotional Intelligence in Galicians students from Junior High-School

  La educación, en sus diversas manifestaciones, nos acompaña desde el momento en que nacemos. Uno de los ámbitos educativos por excelencia es la escuela, en su sentido amplio; en el que pasamos muchas horas de nuestra infancia, adolescencia y juventud. Indagar científicamente en todos los aspectos relacionados con ella a fin de mejorar al máximo los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje, así como contribuir al conocimiento de los problemas que surgen en los estudiantes y ensayar posibles alternativas serían las bases que fundamentan este trabajo. En este estudio se hace un análisis de la Inteligencia Emocional (IE) cuyos objetivos son  profundizar en el conocimiento de la Inteligencia Emocional, examinar la influencia de distintas variables sobre ella y diseñar una propuesta de intervención con el fin de mejorar sus habilidades emocionales. El estudio, cuya muestra es de 168 individuos, se realizó aplicando diversos cuestionarios: un cuestionario ad hoc que estudia diversas variables sociodemográficas y el Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24) que estudia y mide las tres dimensiones clave de la inteligencia emocional (percepción, comprensión y regulación emocional). Los resultados ponen de manifiesto que en la dimensión de percepción emocional quienes obtienen mayores puntuaciones son las adolescentes de 12 años de edad mientras que en las dimensiones de comprensión de sentimientos y regulación de emociones el perfil obtenido es el de un adolescente de entre 12 y 13 años. En consecuencia, en la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO) se debe fomentar la inteligencia emocional para alcanzar y garantizar el éxito profesional y de nuestras vidas, pues el aprendizaje de aspectos sociales y emocionales, facilitan la adaptación del alumnado a un mundo cambiante, con constantes y peligrosos desafíos.

• A transdisciplinaridade nos processos do ensino e da aprendizagem no ensino fundamental

  O estudo teve o objetivo de investigar como a Transdisciplinaridade pode contribuir nos processos do ensino e da aprendizagem. A pesquisa qualitativa, com abordagem participante, foi desenvolvida em uma escola pública municipal. Participaram a gestora escolar, a professora do 5º ano do Ensino Fundamental e seus respectivos alunos. Os dados foram coletados mediante grupo de estudos envolvendo a professora, a gestora e as pesquisadoras a fim de compreender a transdisciplinaridade articulada aos processos educativos; entrevistas semiestruturadas, realizadas com a professora e 10% dos alunos selecionados, conforme aceite, observação direta. A fundamentação teórica se deu com base em estudos de Morin (2010); Japiassu (1976); Santos (2008); Nicolescu (1999); Severino (2000); Vigotsky (2003); Freire (2007). As atividades de ensino foram desenvolvidas coletivamente entre as pesquisadoras e a professora, articuladas aos diferentes componentes curriculares trabalhados em sala de aula. As intervenções pedagógicas visavam ao trabalho com temas/assuntos escolhidos para estudo, independente da organização de tempo específico para as diferentes áreas do conhecimento. Assim, estudava-se o tema “educação ambiental”, envolvendo conteúdos como Matemática, História, Ciências e outros. Na percepção da professora, os estudos e as reflexões realizadas a partir dos autores possibilitaram-lhe espaços de interlocução e apropriação do conhecimento para o desenvolvimento de suas práticas pedagógicas. Para a professora, a fundamentação teórica contribuiu significativamente na aprendizagem dos alunos, pois lhe possibilitou articular o conteúdo eleito pela escola com o contexto vivenciado por eles. Ficou evidenciado ainda que planejar as intervenções pedagógicas a partir de conteúdos articulados facilita a compreensão dos alunos e motiva a participação nas atividades. A discussão de temas relacionados às questões ambientais, sociais e culturais, em visita técnica a um sítio, oportunizaram a professora e às pesquisadoras, compreender como os alunos percebiam os temas estudados e como construíram um olhar sistêmico entre os diferentes sujeitos envolvidos. A forma de os alunos registrarem o observado e de questionar sobre o desconhecido evidenciou que concretizavam, de forma substantiva, conhecimentos com os quais haviam se ocupado. Os resultados apontaram também que a leitura, a interpretação e a produção de textos de gêneros diversos, oportunizaram aos alunos a compreensão de que há diferentes possibilidades de registrar o conhecimento e que a matemática está no cotidiano, seja na história da Emília (Monteiro Lobato) ou na altura da árvore de espécie nativa e rara, como o cedro. E que a história e a geografia se articularam com a ciência e a tecnologia. A professora assinalou que foi possível articular diferentes áreas de conhecimento em todas as atividades pedagógicas, sem a necessidade de segmentação. A arte, a filosofia e a ciência discutidas e estudadas, sem rótulos. Por sua vez, os alunos relaram que enquanto estavam desenvolvendo ciências, aprenderam a construir textos e compreender melhor a geografia, a história e a matemática. Em sua análise, a professora aponta que “é preciso estudar muito, mas vale a pena quando se concretiza o resultado”. Aprender a ver outros conteúdos e outras possibilidades é ousar planejar e apontar possibilidades para a construção transdisciplinar.

• The promotion of self-regulatory strategies for students that present school failure

  In this research, funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological (Cnpq), it is emphasized that the self-regulatory strategies used by the student to learn can promote the overcoming of school failure, according to a study carried out with two students of higher education with historical of failures during the academic period. These students participated in the Group of Psychosocial Care Learning developed by the Federal University of Pelotas, Brazil. The instruments used were interviews before and after the group work, materials prepared at the last meeting and analysis of academic records of students. The study is based on the construct of the assumptions of self-regulation of learning.

• From the meanings to self-regulation: students' prospects about academic failure

  This research, funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological, held in two Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) one in Brazil and another in Portugal, aimed to investigate the prospects of students with academic trajectories of failure. We tried to understand the meaning of its formations, identifying the self-regulatory strategies. The research corpus had 15 students from each of the involved IES. By the time it was obtained as initial results: the definition of the sample, participants subjects, the organization and the adaptation of instruments to be used in the survey. The steps of the research in both countries have been a very painstaking work to identify and adjust for differences and similarities between the realities of the countries involved.

• Learning to learn: basic competence in the European framework of compulsory education

Thus, the basis is conducting a detailed analysis of the delimitation of the competence learning to learn, and study of the factors and implicit aspects this competence involved in the European framework and its extrapolation to the Spanish educational standards (Organic Law of Education, and Law on the Improvement of the Educational Quality).

• Motivación en alumnos de Primaria en aulas con metodología basada en proyectos

  Este trabajo surge del interés por conocer los efectos del Aprendizaje Basado en Proyectos (ABP) sobre la motivación de los estudiantes. ABP ha sido descrito como un método de enseñanza constructivista, cooperativo y guiado. En estos entornos, los estudiantes reciben un desafío del mundo real y la enseñanza guía el desarrollo de las habilidades a utilizar para superar ese reto. La literatura sobre los efectos del ABP encontró que la motivación de los alumnos hacia el aprendizaje, la participación activa en el aprendizaje y la autonomía era mayor. El objetivo del presente estudio es explorar si existen diferencias en las metas de logro entre los alumnos de primaria que asisten a aulas de ABP y los que reciben una enseñanza tradicional. La muestra se compone de 110 estudiantes de 5º de EP de dos escuelas públicas diferentes (edad media 10,28, 46,4% niñas y 53,6% varones). La mitad de la muestra asiste a una escuela donde la actividad diaria es, básicamente, escuchar la exposición del profesor, hacer de forma individual las tareas, corregir tareas y estudiar los contenidos del libro de texto (Escuela 1). A los otros 55 estudiantes se les plantean retos de investigación a resolver por sí mismos  y el docente proporciona apoyo en torno a las destrezas necesarias (Escuela 2). Para medir las metas académicas, utilizamos el Cuestionario de Metas Académicas de Skaalvik que diferencia las dimensiones de aproximación y de evitación en metas del aprendizaje y rendimiento. Las respuestas se registraron en escalas de 5 puntos de 1 (nunca) a 5 (siempre). Se realizó un análisis de varianza con el fin de comparar a los estudiantes que asisten a la Escuela 1 (enseñanza tradicional) con los estudiantes de la Escuela 2 (ABP) en metas de aproximación al rendimiento, evitación del rendimiento, dominio y evitación de trabajo académico. El ANOVA reveló la existencia de diferencias significativas en metas de aproximación al rendimiento y evitación de trabajo entre los dos grupos (de enseñanza tradicional y ABP). En concreto, los estudiantes con los métodos de enseñanza tradicionales mostraron medias significativamente más altas en la orientación a metas de evitación de trabajo en comparación con las de los estudiantes que asisten a la escuela con ABP. Mientras que estos últimos muestran una orientación a metas de aproximación al rendimiento más elevada. Estos resultados permiten sugerir que los estudiantes que tratan de hacer lo menos posible y evitar tareas difíciles se encuentran en menor medida en los entornos de ABP mientras que éstos están más preocupados por obtener mejores calificaciones que sus compañeros y demostrar sus habilidades. Al menos en la escuela primaria, ABP podría ser más eficaz respecto al enriquecimiento de contenidos académicos o valor de la tarea que con el compromiso y la colaboración de los alumnos en el proceso de aprendizaje durante el trabajo en grupo.

• Self-handicapping strategies in university students. Differences between courses

  This paper analyzes possible statistical differences in behavioural and claimed self-handicapping strategies related to course factor. Cross-section ex post factum simple prospective study was used. The sample comprised a total of 691 students (86% women; Mage = 21.35; SD = 3.75) from University of A Coruña enrolled in first (54.8%) and third course (45.2%) of Educational Sciences (68.9%) and Health Sciences (31.1%). Results show that both behavioural and claimed self-handicapping strategies are significantly more used by students enrolled in third course of Educational Sciences and Health Sciences. Possible factors linked to learning environment that might promote self-handicapping are discussed. Moreover, psychological and educational guidance aimed at preventing academic self-handicapping is proposed.

• Projetos de ensino e de aprendizagem multidisciplinares: relato e análise de propostas

  A fragmentação do conhecimento trouxe benefícios à sociedade, pois permitiu o avanço tecnológico e científico, bem como possibilitou conforto e bem-estar para o ser humano. Mas, ao mesmo tempo, provocou consequências em outras dimensões da sociedade. Devido aos fatos históricos e, principalmente, às revoluções que ocorreram no mundo ocidental, o conhecimento foi sendo cada vez mais segmentado e o diálogo entre as disciplinas, bem como entre os seres humanos foram fragilizados. Isso tornou quase que impossível o estabelecimento de uma visão global dos fatos, pois foram desconsideradas as interligações e as interdependências existentes entre áreas do conhecimento, bem como entre os seres humanos. Assim, a visão fragmentada respondeu aos problemas simples presentes na sociedade, mas, devido à complexidade dos fatos, bem como aos avanços científicos e tecnológicos, intensificados principalmente no século XX, tornou-se limitada e incapaz de resolver as situações mais amplas. Esse contexto complexo e diverso contribuiu para o estabelecimento de diálogos, articulações e relações entre os saberes e os sujeitos dos saberes. E, voltando-se para o âmbito educacional, surgiram possibilidades de superação da fragmentação do conhecimento, bem como da organização multidisciplinar dos saberes, por meio da interdisciplinaridade e da transdisciplinaridade. Diante disso, considerando que este trabalho vincula-se ao Projeto de Pesquisa do Observatório da Educação intitulado “Estratégias e ações multidisciplinares nas áreas de conhecimentos das ciências humanas, ciências da natureza e linguagens, na mesorregião do oeste catarinense: implicações na qualidade da educação básica”, que se justifica também pelo contexto mencionado anteriormente, pretende-se analisar quais experiências/projetos de ensino e de aprendizagem multidisciplinares, interdisciplinares ou transdisciplinares foram ou estão sendo desenvolvidos no ensino fundamental das escolas participantes do projeto mencionado anteriormente, e em que medida eles constituem alternativas da escola e de seus profissionais buscarem qualidade e significação dos processos de ensino e de aprendizagem, tendo em vista que são uma possibilidade de compreender a construção do conhecimento dos alunos de maneira não fragmentada. Vale ressaltar que este estudo encontra-se em desenvolvimento e o trabalho a ser apresentado refere-se a uma análise de dados coletados com cinco profissionais de cada escola participantes do Projeto “Estratégias e Ações Multidisciplinares…”, sendo três professores, um diretor e um coordenador pedagógico, num total de treze escolas. Acredita-se que tais projetos (interdisciplinares/transdisciplinares) podem constituir-se em alternativas que inovarão as práticas pedagógicas e as maneiras de pensar e de ser dos sujeitos, revitalizando o processo de aprender com sentido e significado.

• Self-regulated learning: reading comprehension strategies

  This study aimed to investigate whether students in a 8th grade class of a Brazilian public school elementary improved the reading comprehension and the self-regulation skills of reading, in an educational intervention. Participated 27 students aged between 13 and 16 years. The intervention methodology used the modeling, question and self-question metacognitive. Two instruments were used: Questionnaire of Identification of Reading Comprehension Strategies and Text with questions about Reading Comprehension. Among other important aspects, the results revealed that 70,37% of students showed progress in reading comprehension.

• Relações entre a aprendizagem autorregulada e os fatos (auto)biográficos

  O papel oficial do aluno no percurso escolar é de aprender, adquirir autonomia ao longo da sua escolarização para formar-se como cidadão e para ter uma futura profissão. Mas nessa posição objetiva existe uma correspondência subjetiva que determina a forma pela qual ele se apropria desse papel. O aluno vive de maneira singular sua integração no mundo da escola em função da sua história de vida, das relações com seus colegas, membros da família, professores, etc. O objetivo desse trabalho foi compreender o processo da aprendizagem autorregulada em alunos do nono ano, último ano de estudos do nível Fundamental de Ensino no Brasil, observando como eles percebem-se e constituem-se como agentes da própria formação no cotidiano de experiências de vida e de aprendizagem. Participaram do estudo dez alunos que frequentavam o nono ano de uma escola da rede pública estadual da cidade de Porto Alegre, RS, Brasil. Foi utilizada uma metodologia de abordagem autobiográfica, inspirada na técnica dos ateliês biográficos de projetos, adaptada aos objetivos da pesquisa. Para compreender as diferentes formas de autorregular a aprendizagem, foram realizadas seis sessões com duração de uma hora cada, efetuadas em grupos de cinco alunos. As etapas dos ateliês envolveram a construção da escrita de si, a compreensão do outro (através da socialização da narrativa autobiográfica) e o balanço da formação no projeto educacional de cada aluno. Os resultados evidenciaram que ao trabalhar com narrativas autobiográficas, tendo como viés a reflexão da escrita narrativa e oral dos sujeitos envolvidos, foi possível perceber a estreita relação entre o sentido individual dos alunos, através do fatos autobiográficos, e o que eles fazem para autorregular sua aprendizagem. A análise de cada etapa do ateliê mostrou que as experiências de vida de cada aluno revelam um nível diferenciado de autorregulação da aprendizagem e de apropriação das estratégias utilizadas no seu processo formativo. Isto é notado quando os alunos atribuem as dificuldades de organização e autorregulação da aprendizagem a variáveis pessoais, como por exemplo, ao fato de não gostarem de fazer as tarefas escolares ou de serem obrigados a frequentar as aulas. Assim, através da compreensão das estratégias autorreguladoras utilizadas na aprendizagem e do grau de envolvimento dos alunos nos ateliês biográficos de projetos, notou-se que as estratégias de autorregulação e a postura do aluno face às aprendizagens estão intrinsicamente ligadas aos fatos autobiográficos de cada um. Por fim, as etapas vivenciadas nos ateliês ajudaram o jovem a compreender como ele se constrói enquanto aluno e como ele se auto-organiza para autorregular sua aprendizagem, para superar obstáculo e para se adaptar o mundo escolar e à vida.

  Con este trabajo se analiza la capacidad predictiva de variables cognitivas en interacción con las de autoeficacia  y de estrategias de aprendizaje  sobre el rendimiento académico medio  de alumnado de Educación Primaria y Secundaria de Galicia y Norte de Portugal. La muestra era de 801 alumnos de 7º de Enseñanza Básica (Portugal) y de 1º de ESO (España) y del total de la muestra 385 eran del norte de Portugal (48% varones), de edades comprendidas entre 10 y 16 años, (media de 12,4 años y desviación típica 0,94 años) y 416 de Galicia (España) (51% varones), de edades comprendidas entre 11 y 15 años, (media de 12,3 años y desviación típica 0,70).Los resultados apuntan a que son las variables cognitivas relacionadas con la capacidad de utilización de razonamiento con símbolos lógico-numéricos, razonamiento abstracto, así como la autoeficacia, entendida como la valoración de la capacidad percibida para la realización de cualquier tarea y las estrategias de organización y comprensión las que mantienen una alta correlación con el rendimiento. Del mismo modo, la interacción de dichas variables tienen una alta capacidad predictiva sobre el buen rendimiento académico del alumnado de educación secundaria.

  The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between academic achievement and the students' involvement and the working approach used to do homework. The sample is 180 students of primary education. The results indicate that higher achievement levels are associated with a higher amount homework done, a better use of time and a use of a deeper approach to do homework. According advancing course, students spend more time, but the time management is worse and they adopt a more superficial approach to homework too.

  The purpose of this paper is to identify students with different motivational profiles and analyze the differences in their involvement and anxiety about homework and academic achievement. The sample is 714 high school students. Focusing on the groups identified, the group of learning goals takes more amount homework, spends more time, manages better the time and gets better achievement. The group avoidance of failure has high levels of homework anxiety. The group of unmotivated students has low homework engagement, poor achievement and low levels of homework anxiety.

  This work aimed to analyze how students of Secondary Education perceive and value the keyword mnemonic, compared with the rote method, when used it to learn short lists of words in Basque. To that end, they were shown 14 words in Basque to a group of 102 students of 1st and 2nd year of ESO, with their translations into Spanish .Half of the students used the method of repetition to learn the correspondence between words, and the other half, the keyword mnemonic. Those who learned the words using the keyword mnemonic offered significantly higher scores in perceived ease of the strategy and pleasure to the task.

To that end, they were shown 28 words in Basque to a group of 143 students of 3rd and 4th year of E.S.O., with their translations into Spanish. Part of the sample, 68 students, used the rote method to learn the correspondence between the words, and 75 remaining students used the keyword mnemonic. Those who learned the words using the keyword mnemonic offered significantly higher scores in perceived ease of the strategy and pleasure to the task.

• Effects of cooperative learning in secondary compulsory education

  The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of a new teaching method based on cooperative learning in secondary schools. To carry out the study has used a descriptive and comparative design, selecting a sample of 65 students and 8 teachers. All the data collected were analysed in order to contrast the differences between pre-cooperative and cooperative phases. The results shows that cooperative learning has a positive effect on student’s academic performance and classroom climate. However, positive consequences related to students’ attitudes, behaviour and motivation were not observed.

• Gender differences in the style of causal attributions and academic goals of Brazilian University

  As teorias das atribuições causais e a das metas acadêmicas têm motivado diversos estudos e pesquisas associados ao tema em diferentes contextos históricos e geográfico do planeta. As atribuições causais são explicações pessoais e subjetivas que as pessoas dão naturalmente aos fatos que lhe ocorrem. As atribuições causais possuem as seguintes características: quanto ao lócus interno ou externo, quanto à estabilidade estáveis ou instáveis e quanto ao controle podem ser de ordem controlável ou incontrolável. Já as metas acadêmicas explicam os principais motivos que levam o estudante a realizar as atividades de estudo e que não são excludentes. Tanto as atribuições causais como as metas acadêmicas associam-se aos constructos de autoestima, autoconceito e autoeficácia influenciando o modo de pensar e agir podendo afetar o desempenho acadêmico e as relações interpessoais. Este texto tem como objetivo analisar diferenças de gênero observadas com relação a atribuições causais para o rendimento e aos motivos que levam os estudantes a estudarem no ensino superior. A pesquisa foi realizada ao abrigo de projeto apoiado pelo CNPq com apoio de equipe multidisciplinar junto a duas universidades federais do Brasil (UFAM e UNIR) contou com n=1355 participantes do sexo masculino e feminino que responderam a instrumento próprio, observando procedimentos éticos vigentes. Os resultados demonstram as seguintes metas acadêmicas: (i) “Normalmente me esforço em meus estudos porque quero ser valorizado/a por meus amigos e companheiros de classe”; (ii)  “Esforço-me em meus estudos porque quero obter as melhores notas  da turma”; (iii) “Esforço-me em meus estudos porque quero me sobressair” e quanto às atribuições causais para o rendimento, foi observada diferença no item “ As boas notas que obtenho se devem sempre à minha capacidade”. Todas as diferenças favoráveis aos estudantes do sexo masculino p ≤ .001, confirmando resultados de pesquisas na área. Quanto à validade do instrumento, o estudo revelou sua validade estatística. A continuidade de pesquisas e estudos na área em diferentes contextos sociais e educativos poderá contribuir, a exemplo da pesquisa em pauta, com o aporte de novas informações sistematizadas que possam apoiar a proposição de políticas públicas que considerem as diferenças de gênero no ensino superior.

• CeAMatE –Um Programa de Promoção de Conhecimentos Matemáticos para Alunos de Engenharia

  Sabe-se que, atualmente, a Matemática é umas das áreas disciplinares em que existem mais dificuldades ao nível do ensino secundário. De acordo com vários estudos publicados recentemente o investimento na descoberta das razões que levam a este facto tem sido cada vez maior para que sejam encontradas novas estratégias que ajudem os alunos a progredir e a ter sucesso no estudo dos conteúdos matemáticos. Neste sentido, foi realizado um teste diagnóstico de conhecimentos base de matemática de 12º ano do ensino secundário e um questionário de recolha de informação sobre a necessidade de existência de apoio especializado para ultrapassar dificuldades sentidas, aplicado a alunos recém-chegados ao ISEC – Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra e que frequentam a Unidade Curricular de Análise Matemática I. Numa amostra de 853 alunos, 48,3% obtiveram um resultado abaixo de 10 respostas certas (nota negativa), 42,7% obtiveram um resultado acima de 10 respostas certas (nota positiva) e 9% dos resultados foram iguais à nota 10. A maioria dos alunos (60,8 %) refere ter necessidade de frequentar um centro de apoio por considerar que será uma mais valia para si e para a sua aprendizagem. Surgiu a necessidade de criação de um espaço de apoio para determinados alunos cujas dificuldades foram visíveis na realização do teste diagnóstico, O questionário sobre os Estilos de Aprendizagem serve de base à recolha de informação que permitirá estabelecer um percurso individual apoiado no modo como cada aluno perceciona, transforma e organiza os dados matemáticos. O CeAMatE ou o Centro de Apoio à Matemática na Engenharia encontra-se a funcionar em fase de teste e é um espaço de apoio a alunos do primeiro ano que frequentam a unidade curricular de Análise Matemática I. O Projeto foi pensado como laboratório de estudo na medida em que permitirá compreender os estilos de aprendizagem que melhor se adequam aos alunos que o frequentam, compreender se as alterações ao plano de treino de cada um de acordo com as suas especificidades são eficazes na melhoria de resultados académicos e realizar percursos de aprendizagem adequados que favoreçam a aquisição de conhecimentos matemáticos de base essenciais procurando cumprir o objetivo principal deste projeto que é a melhoria dos resultados académicos e a progressão com sucesso na Unidade Curricular de Análise Matemática I aumentando a motivação dos alunos e promovendo a diminuiçao do risco de abandono precoce do curso.

  This study aims to analyze the perceptions of students about the reasons that promote questioning in class. 85 students from 3rd cycle of basic education participated in the study, aged between 13 and 16 years old. The content analysis of the responses to an open-response questionnaire showed that students consider very important their own questions and that they formulate questions to better understand the contents. However, they also note that rarely they ask questions in class context by shame, fear of being ridiculed or uncertainty about the relevance of it.

  The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the ability rotate spatial mental images and cognitive aspects such as memory, the ability for arithmetic and general mental abilities; also, the relationship between the ability to rotate spatial mental images and personality characteristics were investigated.. The results indicate that people with higher ability to create and rotate mental spatial imagery have better results on cognitive abilities measured in this study; also, the results indicate that the ability to rotate spatial mental imagery show significant correlations with two of the five personality factors: Energy and Conscientiousness.

• Mental imagery and the relation to vocational interests

  The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the ability to rotate mental images and vocational interests; we wanted to know whether there was a difference between high and low on the Measure of the Ability to Rotate Mental Images (MARMI), and between high and low on the Measure of the Ability to Form Spatial Mental Imagery (MASMI) in each of the vocational interests enunciated by Holland: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising and conventional. A t test for independent samples was carried out, and the results indicated that scores on both the MARMI as in the MASMI influenced the realistic, investigative, enterprising and conventional profiles. Additional scores only in the MASMI influenced the social profile. No influences were observed over other vocational profiles.

• The image of Psychology: Galician Museum of Psychology

  In this paper we describe a historical journey through the source and development of the Galician Museum of Psychology. The origins of the different devices in the Museum, its creation and development to date are analysed. The aims of the Museum are also discussed, and since it is located at the University of Santiago de Compostela, its purpose, in addition to collecting all psychology related material existing in Galicia to avoid its loss, is focused on the didactic side. Most of the devices are exposed in showcases to allow the visitors to see them, and have displayed a brief description of its purpose and usage. In this paper the future plans for the Museum are also showed, in the educational and organizational levels and also in obtaining new materials. We intend that the museum be an image of psychology.

• Trainings of the metamneconics judgments and involvement in the academic achievement

  This study was developed during the course of the teaching of the subject of Psychology of Art in Fine Arts degree (second year of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Vigo). The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between different variables metamemory (Ease of Learning, Judgment of Learning and Confidence Level) during the course, and the relationship between these variables and academic performance and capacity image on a sample of 90 students. From the results it should be noted that training in the assessment of metamnemonic judgments increased the correlation between judgments as they passed the course, generating a trend in the response we believe is the result of learning. Furthermore, showed high and significant correlations between metamnemonic judgments and final evaluation in the subject.

  The aim of the study was to determine whether gender and years living in the city influenced the knowledge of the city. To analyze this, we selected a group of 119 students of Fine Arts in the city of Pontevedra. We found that gender did not influence the number of the names of the buildings, however, the number of years living in the city influenced the memory. People who had been living in the city of Pontevedra for more than a year remembered the name of more buildings and spaces that people who with less than one year of length of stay in the city.

• The cognitive map of the students of Fine Arts II: Knowledge of the historical center of Pontevedra

  In this research we wanted to assess the knowledge that students of Fine Arts of Pontevedra have of the streets of the historic center of the city. We selected a group of 119 students from the Faculty of Fine Arts in the city of Pontevedra (Spain), and we presented to them a map of the city, with the names the streets of the city, but with 20 streets where, instead of appearing the name of the street, appeared a number. The task of the students was to indentify the names of the streets that appeared labeled with a number. We found that there was significant difference in remembering the names of the streets between individuals who had been one year o less living in the city and those that have been in place took more than a year.

  Neste trabalho, exploramos uma série de hipóteses específicas com o objetivo de entender a transmissão intergeracional de status social e educacional. A perspectiva geral proposta aqui é que este fenômeno resulta de um processo de socialização que é simultaneamente cognitivo e social.  Crianças de NSE baixo e médio constroem mundos consensuais diferentes que dão às crianças de NSE médio razões para aprender e às crianças de classe baixa razões para não aprender na escola. As diferenças que antecipamos encontrar não estão nas crenças gerais sobre o valor da educação, mas nas suas representações específicas de estratificação social e educacional, sua identidade neste mundo social e os tipos de conhecimentos nos quais se considere valga a pena investir, em função da identidade.

• Confidence in the keyword mnemonics to learn languages

  The main goal of this investigation was to find out if the keyword mnemonics reinforced with drawings is effective for ESO students and, on the other hand, the confidence level of this strategy. The sample was composed by a group of 104 participants who learned the translation of a short list of 16 Latin words. The control group learned by the repetition method and the experimental group learned by the keyword mnemonics reinforced with drawings. The results indicated that gender did not have an influence in the recall and sureness of the response. However, the learning strategy proved to have an influence.

• Imagery vividness and metamnemonic judgments in the elderly

  The aim of this study was to assess the elderly´s imagery vividness in the recall, metamnemonic judgments (ease of learning judgments, judgments of learning and confidence level) and gamma scores. The sample was composed by a group of 50 women between 65 and 86 years old with a mean age of 75.02 years (SD = 5.86). They learned the translation of a short list of 16 Latin words by the keyword mnemonics reinforced with drawings and also, they filled in the Betts´QMI. The results indicated that the recall showed a marginally significant difference and the imagery vividness had an influence in gamma scores between ease of learning judgments and the recall.

  This work aimed to study the image of the inhabitants of A Coruña (Spain) in this city. For this purpose, the questionnaire used by Boira (1992), with some modifications, was applied to a group of 130 students from the Faculty of Education at the University of A Coruña (Spain). The results confirm the central role of the Hercules Tower in the image of the city, as a symbolic and representative element, the association of this Tower, the sea and the beaches with the idea that most people have of the city, and the perception of the Maria Pita and Pontevedra Square as the heart of the city and the most important node, respectively. The city has been described by many participants as "a small town with all amenities nearby."

  This work aimed to analyze the differences in the image of the city of A Coruña (Spain), among people with less than a year living in the city, and those who took more than a year living in it. To this end, the questionnaire used by Boira (1992), with some modifications, was applied to a sample of 130 students from the Faculty of Education of the city. The Hercules Tower and the Pontevedra Square are representative elements for all of them. However, when participants with less stay in the city had to cite the first five things they remembered from the city, noted in a higher percentage beaches Riazor and Orzán than the Hercules Tower. Only in this group, one of the five places spontaneously remembered more often is the Marineda City shopping center.

El tema del aprendizaje se introduce  desde la concepción clásica de enfoques de aprendizaje,  se menciona el conectivismo de Siemens (2006) por ser un enfoque más adaptado al aprendizaje de la era digital en la que nos encontramos inmersos. Finalmente comentamos los resultados obtenidas en el cuestionario adaptado del de  Monereo (1993) sobre autoconocimiento  en la forma de estudio. Se  comentan los resultados obtenidos en la evaluación de necesidades de los estudiantes de la muestra.

• Motivation in students of secondary education in Galicia

  The main objective of the study is to advance, from the point of view of students, in the understanding of the motivational construct in order to assist in the design of programs or measures for the prevention and intervention in improving school performance adapted to the educational contexts. Considering the context and consistent with the approach, is decided to use as a tool for data collection the questionnaire CMEA (questionnaire of motivation and learning strategies) composed of 31 items measuring intrinsic motivation, self-efficacy, self-control, the value of the task and anxiety. The sample was made up of 500 students who are pursuing Compulsory Secondary Education in Galicia. The results of this study allow us to confirm that Galician teenagers have a good motivational level and also presented significant variations depending on the socio-educational variables in the context of reference (age, sex, studies, province).
